I'm forever popping bubbles!!

Well who doesn't love popping the bubbles on bubble wrap... There is just something about it, and now I have discovered extreme popping!! I same some cute beads made online from ironed bubble wrap and knew I had to try!! So in the interest of science and craft I grabbed my iron (only time the iron is grabbed in excitement!!) and a selection if bubble wraps. Now you must remember to sandwich your bubble wrap between parchment to protect your iron, and enjoy! It is cool the bubbles pop and sink,   I even tried double layers of bubbles to make thicker pieces. My personal favourite was the larger bubbles, one side would go may and one side stayed shiny, I loved the contrast. When ironed you can then colour with alcohol inks, die cut etc. I grabbed my Tim Holtz tattered dies and fell in love with with the shapes just plain.
So a quick embossed background with my beautiful peacock mask, a simple greeting and beautiful white on white card was born! You have to give this a go!!

Happy Crafting

  2. Thanks Ali :) I'm gutted though, lol.....I had soooo much hoarded 'stuff' (wombled?), that afer years of having barely seen inside most boxes, only last....Thursday I ferried them all to the recycliong centre :( I felt so good that I could now begin filling the boxes again :) Then watched you on Friday, & now can't find a single piece of bubble wrap! I know they sell rolls in the £shop, so may resort to that, but it's unthinkablr really, heehee! xx

Morning Ali and what a nice moring it is sun shine and my washing hanging on the line, lets get back to matter in hand, Ali can I us the bubble wrap in the papped envlopes?? also I have read how you made the flower so do you have to iron the bubble wrap first before you cut the flowers out, can you use any die cuts or do you have to use tim holts dies??,thanks, crafty hugs lv.Sonja.xx.xx.

  12. Hi Sonja, thank you! Yes you can use envelop bubble wrap but it will probably have a paper backing which will give it a different look. Also yes iron first, 2 reasons 1 unpopped bubbles will be too much for the die cutter to handle, the sandwich will be too thick, and the bubble wrap will change shape as it melts, so distorting the shapes. And you can use any die I just prefer the bolder shapes as it shows off the texture you have created better. Hope that helps

    2. Unfortunately the Tim Holtz dies are not suitable for the Grand Calibur.
